The Best Christmas Dining 2019

Your chestnuts may not be ready for roasting just yet but make sure you plan ahead and book a festive table for friends and loved ones as Christmas is nearly here.

There are a huge number of restaurants across the capital bringing you festive delights with all sorts of menus. We wanted to break this down for you. The Wonder List is skimming the top to bring you the best of the most luxurious, gluttonous and belt popping dishes in town.

We will be bringing you wondrous guides of to where to eat and drink on Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve. We will be updating the list below as more restaurants announce their Christmas menus. So keep your beautiful eyes peeled for even more places that are willing and eager to stuff you like a (possible faux) Turkey.

Simpson’s In The Strand

Simpson’s In The Strand has been cooking up a storm for centuries, traditional British favourites for almost 200 years. A free range bronze turkey is the highlight of its festive menu, served with chestnut stuffing, fondant potatoes and all the trimmings. Vegetarians are thoughtfully catered for here with a root vegetable pithivier accompanied by pumpkin nage and crispy sage. If you’re feeling really old school by the time pudding comes around, try the mint chocolate baked alaska served with a whisky flambé.

Odette’s, Primrose Hill

Bryn Williams’ Primrose Hill restaurant, Odette’s, celebrated its 11th anniversary this year, so you know you’re in good hands for a festive gathering. Two three-course Christmas set menus are available for groups of six or more, priced at £45 and £60 and featuring dishes like roast bronze turkey with duck fat potatoes and pigs in blankets, sea bream with Jerusalem artichoke and wild mushrooms, and beef sirloin with truffle mash potato, slow cooked carrot and onion crumb. Desserts include poached mulled wine pear with cinnamon parfait and chocolate, and Odette’s signature Jaffa cake with clementine and orange curd. Available from 20 November until 23 December. Available from 19 November until 19 January 2020, including extra services on 16 and 22 December.

There’s also a special Christmas Weekday Lunch menu for £25, featuring the likes of smoked salmon, traditional turkey and Christmas pudding with a twist. The festive menus can be combined with drinks options for your group.

Book your fun Christmas party (8 people and above) for the period 25 Nov – 23 Dec. The Christmas menu is not too festive and doesn’t deviate from the menu that much. If you are looking for Anti Pasta, Pizza and Pasta you will not be disappointed. However they do a special Christmas Pasta which is a top secret recipe from Chef Filippo’s. They also finish the set menu with a bang, you’ve guessed it Limonchello… you cant go wrong, Easy to please a crowd!

If your looking for something sensational, Executive chef Akira Shimizu has created a delightfully decadent festive menu – an exclusive and extravagant thirteen course Kobe beef tasting menu. Set within Soho’s The Ham Yard hotel, Engawa’s intimate dining room will serve their special menu for four sittings only from 21 – 24 December. The gastronomic experience begins with a raspberry & yuzu champagne cocktail upon arrival and delicate starters such as grilled, thinly sliced Kobe sirloin with Tamaru-Ya wasabi and thin noodles in stock with sliced beef. Seasonal sushi-style plates follow, including Kobe beef thigh, foie gras, Kobe beef stock, teriyaki sauce; Kobe sirloin with sea urchin, cheese and truffle cream sauce; the ultimate melt-in-the-mouth Kobe beef burger; and 20-day aged Kobe beef with Nori seaweed.
