Justine de la Rue

As granddaughter to a particularly eccentric Englishman with an unrivaled knowledge of cattle and a passion for game, I was raised in a house full of unusual animals and exciting adventures.  A relationship with an orphaned baby zebra named Dube cemented my adoration for the wild and wonderful African bush and all the creatures that inhabit it.  As a result, both cattle and game are a huge inspiration in each of my designs. My childhood in rural Zimbabwe, education at university in England and Rome, and my study at the famous Florentine leather school La Scoula del Cuoio, has given me an appreciation for international style and design, whilst enabling me to maintain my African roots. I consider my aesthetic to be an elegant combination of my grandparents; the African knowledge and expertise of my ranching Grandfather and his glamorous Argentinian wife, coupled with the chic style of my European grandparents.

Every article is made with absolute care.  The leather is cut by hand and worked using the simplest of tools.  The time spent perfecting the product, choosing finishes, colours and incorporating other unique elements is part of what makes these belts a timeless investment rather than a fashion trend.
